the annual pikseliähky festival is here again. alas is collaborating with pikseliähky and basso in producing a club night at korjaamo. we apologize that n-type didn't make to our last alas night, and that we weren't able to notify of this. things went wrong at the very last minute. the situation on london airports made it impossible for n-type to travel. a big thank you to every one that showed up, there were a lot of you. such a great night. and don't worry, n-type will most likely pay us a visit before the end of the year.

Henkireikii (Ventholes) is a project group of janne ”pijall” hyttinen and xploitec vj-collective.  In urb, the group creates an audiovisual experiential journey with three projection screens, sound, images and songs. the performance madonreikii (wormholes) is based on a narrative, magically combining two worlds. pijall has created the sound and lyrics of the performance, and xploitecs vj phoqin and vj 304 interpret the visual nature of the performance with live images. “what the eyes eat, the mouth defecates and the audience devours. listen and don’t understand. enjoy and jump off the wagon into wormholes. it leaves you cold like acid ice.”

katusea's matti pentikäinen has teamed up with karri paleface miettinen to translate saul williams' epic poem ", said the shotgun to the head" to finnish. the book will be released on the 5th anniversary of 9/11, and on the third anniversary of the book's original release in USA... that is, september eleventh in helsinki. for live performances, in the spirit of the initial performance at ilosaari rock, see for kirjamessut and taiteiden yö schedules. fire!

a new release! katusea005 by po' land titled "realities once possible" is currently at the press, and will be out in time for the record release live set at alas on friday 09/06/06. it should be available at selected stores in helsinki some time next week (dis'n'dat, lifesaver, the funkiest...). check back for updates and more info soon. po'land is a combined effort of kirill lorech and niclas kristiansson, and the record is an ep with five songs.

31/05/06 - bassoradio goes fm again!
bassoradio will start airing at 102,4 mhz in the greater helsinki area starting tomorrow, and will go on for the entire summer. this means you can listen to our show "alas" every wednesday at four in the afternoon in the park, at the beach, in your car, or where ever the hell you want. and as if that's not enough, today we received the news that bassoradio will go fm permanently in january 2007! how great is that? those of you not located in helsinki can listen to bassoradio at www.basso.fi» .

the first international performer of club alas is andreas tilliander, sweden's gift to electronic music. besides the "pop techno" he has recorded under his given name, tilliander is also known for more experimental releases under the alias' lowfour, mokira, and komp. tilliander's newest record under his own name, "world industries", headed by "back to usa", the single you might have peeped at mtv, most obviously flirts with the dancefloor of all of tilliander's works. at club alas tilliander will play a mix of dub and techno. it's bound to be a dancehall at rosegarden! view flyer»
